No Benefits Cuts! Period.

Social Security, MedicCare and Medicaid are not the reason we have a deficit problem.  The two Bush tax cuts, 2 unpaid wars, Medicare Part D and the Wall Street Meltdown comprise the vast majority of our deficit problem.   Cutting our social safety net to pay for republican budgetary, taxation and regulatory incompetence is unacceptable and inexcusable.  

Democrats can win the fiscal showdown! But Democratic L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and former PA Gov. Ed Rendell joined the main group hell-bent on cutting Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security benefits while giving tax breaks to big corporations. It's called Fix The Debt and is funded by big corporations.

How the Republican Budget Hurts the Middle Class

 

The Republican Budget passed this week on party lines; 228-191 no democrats voted for the bill and 10 republicans voted against it.  This is trickle down at its worst.  Still more cuts for billionaires and millionaires while savaging our infrastructure and safety net.  Republicans have no new ideas and their current ideas have been shown to be mostly self-serving and economic suicide for a nation.   Anyone else remember 2008?
Paul Krugman:

His latest budget proposal has received some harsh critiques. It calls for huge tax cuts, supposedly offset by closing loopholes and ending tax expenditures — except that in a long report he fails to name a single tax expenditure that he would cut. It assumes drastic cuts in discretionary spending, basically eliminating everything except defense. And over the medium term, of course, it’s a plan to savage the poor while giving big tax breaks to the rich.

Petition to End the Bush Tax Cuts

President  Bush will go down in history as the most bumbling, wrong headed, damaging executive this nation has ever known, or hopefully will ever know.  While sending American service members to fight in far too frequent deployments, wars half a world away, Bush asked of the wealthy....nothing... he gave them the lowest tax rate in almost a hundred years.  Iraq is winding down and hopefully we can start withdrawing from Afghanistan soon.   However, the terrible Bush Tax Cuts live on.  The average tax break enjoyed by the top 1% is larger than the average annual income of the 99%!   Under the Bush tax cuts we have seen the largest income inequality in the US since the 1930's.  One in four children in America live in poverty.  While the top 1% own 40% of the nations wealth and the bottom 80% own 7%.  True economic growth begins at the grass roots level, putting money in circulation by the 99%;  not top down, trickle down nonsense.  It's time to end the Bush tax cuts, which are as damaging to this nation as the wrongful invasion of Iraq.
