The Sombrero Galaxy is this weeks choice for Happy Friday. The Sombrero galaxy is only about half the width across (50,000 light years across) as our own Milky Way (100,000 light years across) but is thought to contain almost twice as many stars. This galaxy with its distinctive dark dust lane and large brilliant nucleus is about 28 million light years from our planet Earth.
