Emergency contraception is safe. And it can make a huge difference in the life of a woman who has been raped, or simply is not ready to face the consequence of an unintended pregnancy. The American Medical Association, the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and even the American Academy of Pediatrics have all endorsed easy access for all to emergency contraception. So why is the Obama administration blocking an FDA decision which would have allowed emergency contraceptives to be sold on-the-shelf, next to condoms and pregnancy tests?
