Happy Friday

Star-Forming Region S106

Sharpless 2-106 is relatively close to Earth only 2,000 light-years from us.  Nebula like Sharpless 2-106 are stellar nurseries, where new stars are born.  Infra-red views of the nebula reveal more than 600 brown dwarfs which are about a tenth the mass of our sun and unable to support fusion in the sub-stellar core.
