Governor Rick Perry stop praying for us

Texas Governor Rick Perry and his radical evangelical preachers filled half a football stadium in Texas this past weekend to speak with their invisible deity on behalf of the nation.
"Lord, You are the source of every good thing, You are our only hope. And we stand before You today in awe of your power, and in gratitude for Your blessings; in humility for our sins.
Father, our heart breaks for America. We see discord at home. We see fear in the marketplace. We see anger in the halls of government. And as a nation we have forgotten Who made us, Who protects us, Who blesses us, and for that we cry out for Your forgiveness.
We pray for our nation’s leaders, Lord -- for parents, for pastors, for the generals, for governors -- that You would inspire them in these difficult times. Father, we pray for our president, that You would impart Your wisdom upon him, that You would guard his family. We pray for our military and the families who love them. Father, especially for those special operators who lost their life yesterday in defending our freedoms.
You call us to repent, Lord, and this day is our response. We give it all to You. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen and amen."
30,000 people crowd a stadium to ask for help from a deity?  On the same day just 7 miles away from the stadium 100,000 estimated people lined up to receive donated school supplies in the city of Houston at the George R. Brown convention center.  Also available were free immunizations, backpacks and food.  Many people stood in line for hours and everything was gone by 10AM.   Unlike many republican legislators across the country, Texas families know the importance and value of education.  Economic conditions in Texas must be terrible if your willing to stand in line for hours to get free pencils, glue and crayons for your children.  Here is a brief description of Rick Perry's Texas:

  • Highest percentage of minimum wage jobs in the nation
  • Highest percentage of residents with no health insurance in the nation
  • A budget deficit of $27 billion.
  • Lower than average wages
  • Average growth in GDP [1.]
Governor Rick Perry has been doing a lot of praying and doesn't have any concrete results to show for his efforts.  In April of this year Governor Rick Perry issued a statewide prayer  proclamation for the entire state to end the drought conditions in Texas.  Here is a map of the drought conditions in Texas at the time of his proclamation.
drought conditions Texas 4/12/11
4 months should be adequate to judge the effectiveness of the governors prayer proclamation.  What are the current drought conditions in Texas.   Here is the latest results from the US Drought Monitor forTexas dated 8/02/11:

The dark brown is the most severe type of drought that is measured.  Almost the entire state is now suffering from the most severe drought.  Looking at these results, one can only conclude that either prayers don't work, or that none of the gods listen to Rick Perry or his constituents.  Based on these results, I fervently hope Governor Rick Perry stops praying for the USA immediately.
