Mars: from the NASA rover Opportunity, still roving and taking pictures since 2004. Opportunity owes her long lifespan to American ingenuity, batteries, solar collectors and renewable energy-sunlight. The republicans seem to think that green energy isn't profitable or "American". Operating for 8 years in the extreme conditions of mars, on sunlight alone sounds pretty reliable, cost effective and impressive to me. But I'll agree renewable energy is not profitable, for the oil companies.
