How Republican ALEC Members Deal With Public Scrutiny

Across the country individuals and groups are examining the ties between ALEC and their legislators.  One such report is The Progress|Va.   The Progress|VA, Alec in Virginia report is meticulously researched and extremely detailed.  The report notes for each Virginia delegate and senator; Alec meetings attended, dues paid, ALEC expenses, contributions and ALEC bills introduced and co-sponsored.  The report also details the individual ALEC bills these Virginia politicians  passed in the state.  Speaker Howell had complained that the Washington Post article describing Progress VA's report on ALEC in Virginia was “full of half-truths or un-truths.”  Anna Scholl, the executive director of Progress VA asked Speaker Howell to point out the inaccuracies in her report.   Watch the video to see the speaker's response.
