The Susan G. Komen foundation has pulled its funding from Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood is often the only provider of health care services for low-income and underserved women. Komen’s support for Planned Parenthood has provided nearly 170,000 clinical breast exams and referrals for more than 6,400 mammograms in just the last 5 years. These cancer detection and prevention programs save lives, plain and simple. Pressure from congressional conservatives and right wing anti-choice extremists is no excuse to stop saving the lives of poor American women. Unless Komen foundation only supports a cure for "right" thinking individuals. Is the Komen Foundation fighting breast cancer or advancing an extremist anti-choice viewpoint and enlisting in the republican war on women? Our family has supported the Komen foundation for as long as I can remember, but no longer unless they change their stance.
