The Senate and the House have withdrawn both bills. The Senate was to debate and vote on the bill this Tuesday, it has been indefinately postponed. There was a thunderous internet outcry over the bills. Google, Wikipedia and over 100,000 other websites supported the internet strike on the 18th. Over 10,000,000 individuals signed petitions against the bills and over 3,000,000 e-mails were sent. 8 AM January 18th five senators were opposed to this bill. 12 hours later 34 senators publicly withdrew support or denounced the bill in its current form. It was fun to see some large corporations like Google stand with the little guys and watching a "series of tubes" coil like a rattlesnake, shaking Congress to attention was most outstanding.
